Lakeshore Grandeur

Set along one of the most coveted stretches of Lake Shore Drive, this residence occupies part of the former Meeker Mansion—its history still felt in the bones of the space. The brief was clarity: something refined, calm, and open to gathering. A place that could shift easily from quiet mornings to a room full of people.

The kitchen was reoriented to become the center of that movement—opening toward the living area and extending out to the terrace. Sightlines were cleared, circulation simplified. What had been enclosed now feels continuous. Existing stainless cabinetry was preserved and reworked, paired with panels of mercury glass that catch and soften the light, drawing the eye outward toward the lake and city beyond.

Elsewhere, the palette deepens. A marble bathroom with a sense of weight and stillness. An office that leans darker, more atmospheric. Outdoor space designed for long evenings, layered but easy. The result is a home that holds contrast well—polished, but not cold; expansive, but still intimate. A place that settles into itself, even in the middle of the city.
