Tucked away in the woods of Winnetka, this home is an absolute gem. With both Australian and Fijian roots, this client brought an exciting energy and aesthetic to the table. The home melds her culturally significant pieces with lots of vintage charm. In her culture, before a baby is born, the women of the village begin weaving a mat for the new baby. This framed mat became the focal point above our client’s fireplace. The front room was nicknamed the “Ladies’ living room” and we tied in the original pink fireplace with blush walls, dusty shearling, and pink pillow artwork- each ceramic pillow filled with a positive message written by the artist. This home is full of nooks and spaces to tuck away. Secret paneled doors lead you to the powder and laundry rooms. Nearly every window is adorned with a bench seat cushion with views to the expansive lawn. In every room you can find vintage lighting and furniture that was sourced both locally and globally.
